Ott and Collins Capture Gold to Wrap Up MAC Championships

The Spartans also get gold from their 400 free relay team

YORK, PA – The York College men's swim team capped a strong 2024 Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet on Sunday at Graham Aquatic Center in York.

The Spartans concluded the championships in third place among 12 full teams. The Spartans accumulated 1,107 points, just ten points back of the Widner Pride who finished second with 1,117 points. Stevens cruised to the team championship as they concluded the four day meet with 1,444.5 points. Arcadia was fourth with 1,025.5 points while Misericordia rounded out the top five with 786 points.

The Spartans had a banner day with two individual wins, a relay win while they also broke a pair of school records. 

Individually, sophomore Bryan Collins earned his second gold medal as he won the 100 free in a school record time of 46.33. Collins won the 50 free championship on Thursday during day one of the championships. Collins capped his championships with two individual golds, two relay golds, one silver relay finish, and one bronze relay placement. He also had a sixth-place finish for the Spartans in the 200 free.

Collins was joined by freshman Braeden Emore in the 100 free final as Emore finished seventh with a time of 47.60. Nick Bordovsky placed tenth in the event with a time of 47.63.

Spartan freshman Leo Ott capped a strong weekend with a win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.73. Senior Collin Draminski just missed a medal in the race as he placed fourth with a time of 1:56.21.

Junior Liam Perrin placed fourth in the 1650 free with a time of 16:57.52. Senior Connor Spillman finished ninth in the 1650 with a time of 17:27.13.

Junior Chris Hulsart closed out his championships with an 11th place finish in the 200 breaststroke as he finished with a time of 2:15.46.

York closed out the championships with a second relay gold as the team of Draminski, Emore, Bordovsky and Collins combined to set a school record in the 400 free relay, recording a time of 3:04.67.

The Spartans will wrap up their 2023-24 campaign next weekend as they head to New York University to compete in the NYU Last Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday. The action kicks off Friday with preliminaries starting at 10:00 am on Friday.
