DAYTONA BEACH, FLA – The York College women's basketball team used a huge second half as they rolled past Fitchburg State 98-45 on Saturday afternoon during day one of the Sunshine State Shootout in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Spartans got a historic day from grad forward
Alyssa Hocker as she poured in 35 points and pulled in 21 rebounds in the win. The Spartans also held the Falcons to just 11 points in the second half while York put 50 points combined in the third and fourth quarters.
The Spartans have won three straight as they improve to 6-4 while Fitchburg State falls to 3-9.

How It Happened
• The Falcons opened the scoring in the game but the Spartans scored 10 of the next 12 points to take a 10-4 lead just over three minutes into the game. The Falcons cut the Spartan lead to three twice over the next two minutes before York ripped off an 11-0 run to take a 23-9 lead with 2:56 left in the first quarter. The Spartans eventually took a 25-14 lead after one quarter of play.
• Fitchburg State chipped away at the Spartan lead as they sliced the Spartan advantage to just three points at 34-31 with 6:16 left in the half. The Spartans responded in emphatic fashion as York went on a 14-3 run over the remaining 5:37 of the half to take a 48-34 lead at the intermission.
• The Spartans removed all doubt about the outcome of the contest in the third quarter as they outscored the Falcons 28-4. That turned the 14-point halftime lead into a 38-point bulge at the end of the third.
• York continue the onslaught in the fourth. Fitchburg State began the quarter with a 7-0 run. The Spartans finished the quarter with a 22-0 run to provide for the final 53-point margin of victory. The win is the largest margin of victory since December 29, 2016 when the Spartans beat Alvernia 90-33 at the SUNY Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Lehman College. Current assistant coach

The Spartans shot 41% from the floor in the win as they went 39-for-95 in the win … York was 6-for-25 (24%) from three and a strong 14-for-17 (82%) from the stripe … York held the Falcons to 25% (17-for-69) from the field including 7-for-21 (33%) from three … Fitchburg State was 4-for-8 from the stripe … York forced 26 Falcon turnovers which they turned into 29 points … York collected 70 rebounds on the day including 32 offensive rebounds while the Falcons had 39 rebounds in the game … York had a 24-9 bulge in assists while they also had a 16-9 advantage in steals … York's 28 point third quarter was their second-highest total of the year, two points back of their 30-point fourth quarter in the come-from-behind win over Lebanon Valley … York scored 31 second chance points … York had a big 54-16 margin in paint points and a 12-4 advantage in fast break points.

Alyssa Hocker poured in a career-high 35 points, good for fourth on the single-game scoring list, two points behind record holder Haley Luckabaugh's 37 at Elizabethtown (1/6/20) and a pair of 36 point performances from April Sparkman (vs. Wesley on 11/30/11) and Heather Kessler (at Gallaudet, 2/16/05) …Hocker's 21 rebounds ties her for second on the single-game list behind Mandy Crabbs' 22 rebounds (twice in 2003) while she is tied with Shea Wassel (vs. Ursinus, 11/16/04) … Hocker did her damage in 27 minutes of work as she was 14-for-26 from the floor including 2-for-6 from three and 5-for-5 from the line … Hocker also set a new career-high with six steals in the win …
Breana Grim also set a new career-high with 24 points as she was 8-for-19 from the floor, 3-for-9 from three and 5-for-6 from the line …
Morgan Adams was the third Spartan in double figures with 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots in her 22 minutes of action … the Spartans had 10 different players school as all 17 healthy players saw action in the game … the 98 points are tied for the seventh highest total in school history … the Spartans' 39 field goals are tied for fourth on the single-game list … the 95 field goal attempts were the most in school history … York's 70 rebounds were the second-highest total in school history … Fitchburg's 24.6% shooting from the field was a season-low by a Spartan opponent … York's 98 points was a season-high as was their 39 made field goals … York's 82.4% accuracy mark from the field was a season-high for the Green and White … York's nine turnovers were a season-low.
