YORK, PA – The York College men's swim squad finished second at their second annual Spartan Splash Invitational at the Grumbacher Natatorium this weekend.
Bridgewater captured the team title with 817 points while the Spartans were second with 712 points. Elizabethtown finished third with 566 points followed by Stevenson with 426 points. Hood rounded out the five-team field with 401 points.
Spartan junior Bryan Collins had a big weekend with the Spartans' two individual wins. Collins won the 50 free in a time of 20.62, which set a new school record for the Green and White. Collins also won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.37. He finished second in the 100 free with a time of 46.32. Collins set another school record with a split time of 46.00 in the opening leg of the 400 free relay.
Collins now leads the squad with 11 individual wins this season.
In addition to Collins' runner-up finish, four other Spartans notched second place finishes during the weekend. Liam Perrin was second in the 200 free while he also recorded two third place finishes in the 500 and 1650 free. Bryce Miller finished second in the 100 backstroke in addition to a fourth in the 200 backstroke, and a sixth in the 50 fly. Will McDermott notched a runner-up finish in the 1650 while he was also fourth in the 500 free. Alex Daniele was second in the 200 fly, fifth in the 200 backstroke, and sixth in the 100 fly.
Brenden Stuhltrager earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly while he also finished fifth in the 50 free, and fifth in the 100 free. Nick Bordovsky was York's other third-place finisher, recording that finish in the 200 free. Bordovsky was also fourth in the 100 free and seventh in the 50 free.
York had 26 individual finals berths during the weekend.
