Volleyball Falls Twice at Juniata Tri-Match

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Spartan women's volleyball team lost to No. 1 Juniata and Baldwin Wallace in their last tri-match of the season which was hosted by Juniata on Saturday.

How It Happened
The Spartans opened the day with a 3-0 loss to the host Eagles. Juniata jumped out to a 14-3 lead before eventually claiming a 25-17 victory in the first set. The Eagles made quick work of the second set as they hit .545 on their way to a 25-9 win. Juniata then clinched the match with a decisive 25-15 while hitting .300 as a unit.

Juniata's Lily Podolan led all players with 11 kills in the match and her teammate Olivia Foley racked up a match-high 21 assists. Morgan Nolte led the Spartans with eight kills and posted a match-high three blocks.

York capped off the day with a 3-1 defeat to Baldwin Wallace. The Yellow Jackets broke out to a 20-14 lead and held on to win the first set, 25-22, and then rolled to a 25-14 victory to take a two-set lead. The Spartans staved off a sweep by winning the third set  25-23, but surrendered a 25-16 win to BW in the fourth to seal the match.

Three Yellow Jackets posted double-digit kill totals led by Gabby Schlecht match-high 12. Nolte led the Spartans led York with 11.

What's Next
The Spartans return to the court on Wednesday with a trip to Eastern for a Commonwealth semifinal match.
