How It Happened
• The Spartans got an early chance with a
Riley Buschert shot in the first 1:10 of the match. York's first shot on goal came in the eighth minute as
Libby Wild put a shot on target after a Spartan penalty corner. The Gulls earned their first corner and first shot in the 14
th minute but
Belle Fields made the stop. Salisbury got a second corner and shot but it would be blocked as the teams were tied after 15 minutes.
• Salisbury got three shots in the opening ten minutes of the second quarter before they earned a penalty corner with 5:02 left in the half. Marli McDorman fired a shot on goal on the ensuing corner as Fields made another save. The Spartans earned a corner with 54 seconds left in the half as Wild got another shot on goal followed by a Buschert shot off the rebound but neither attempt found the mark. Salisbury countered quickly and drew a penalty corner with two seconds left but McDorman's shot was wide as the teams headed to the break scoreless.
• The Sea Gulls broke the tie 3:09 into the second half as they drew a penalty corner and converted the chance on a McDorman goal as she scored off a pass from Regan Nacrelli. The Gulls made Fields work in the period as she had to make two more saves to keep the Spartan deficit at one.
• The Spartan offense couldn't get on track in the second half as the Gulls out shot York 5-2 in the second half. Salisbury held a 12-6 advantage in shots for the game including a 6-2 margin in shots on goal. The Gulls doubled up York 10-5 in penalty corners for the night.
