How It Happened
• The Spartans came out and carried the play from the start of the match. The Spartans pressured the Cougar defense early but they were unable to find the back of the cage in the opening 15 minutes of play. York out-shot Misericordia 7-0 in the first quarter including 3-0 in shots on goal. York had three first quarter penalty corners.
• The Spartans finally got on the board 7:40 into the second quarter as
Anna Simoes fed
Olivia Miller with a pass that Miller finished off inside the right post for the 1-0 lead. The goal is Miller's third of the season. York added to the lead just under three minutes later as the Spartans drew a penalty corner. On the corner,
Libby Wild received the insert from
Brooke Cordisco. Wild pushed a pass to
Riley Buschert who one-timed a shot that gave York a 2-0 lead. The goal was Buschert's second of the season.
• The Spartans dominated the statistics in the first half as they out-shot Misericordia 12-0 including 7-0 in shots on goal. The Spartans had six penalty corners as they did not allow Misericordia to get into the York defensive circle with possession in the first 30 minutes of play.
• The Spartans kept rolling in the third quarter as they continued to apply the heat to the Cougar defense. York scored their third goal just 2:18 into the half as Miller slipped a pass from the end line to
Maycee Collison and the midfielder knocked it home for her first goal of the season.
• York finished the third quarter with an 11-0 bulge in shots while they also held a 7-0 margin in penalty corners.
• The Cougars registered their lone shot of the game after they earned their first corner midway through the fourth period. York finished the game with a 27-1 advantage in total shot and a 13-1 margin in shots on goal. The Spartans also had a 17-1 edge in penalty corners.
