York 1-1-0

How It Happened
  • The Spartans had the jump early as Gavin Bealer netted his first ally of the season in just the fourth minute of play. Jack Mitzelfelt started the play as he sent a low cross from left to right through several Juniata defenders and found Bealer on the back side who hammered it home for York's first tally of the season.
  • York ended the first half with a flurry of corner kick opportunities and nearly found the net again in the 43rd minute as a Brayden Safley shot clipped the post. The Spartans had all the momentum heading into halftime as they ended the first half with a 7-3 edge in total shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The Green and White picked up right where they left off to start the second half as they generated several scoring opportunities in the opening minutes. Following their second corner opportunity of the half, Noah Roche kept the play alive and played a pass high to the left side of the box where Dermot Williamson collected the ball and blasted a shot under the crossbar to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead in the 49th minute.
  • York held Juniata to just two second-half shots as Spartan goalkeeper Michael DiPierro collected his first-career clean sheet.
