Alvernia 6-4 (1-1 MACC)
York 8-6 (1-1 MACC)

How It Happened
  • The Golden Wolves edged out a 26-24 victory to take the first set of the night after the two teams eight times throughout the frame. Jennifer Taylor notched a pair of kills late in the set, including one that knotted the score at 24-24, but Alvernia would go on to get back-to-back kills from Rachel Sipling and Jamie Pierce to claim the set.
  • Alvernia took the lead early and held on a late surge by the Spartans to squeak out a 25-23 victory in the second set. York trailed by as much as six points in the middle of the set and steadily fought back to cut the deficit to one on five separate occasions late, but could never score those vital back-to-back points to pull even and overtake the Wolves.
  • After leading for much of the beginning of set number three, the Spartans overcame a 16-15 deficit to claim a 25-19 win. Gianna Krinock scored three big kills to fuel York's late rally as she finished with five in the frame. Taylor led all players with six kills, including the set-clinching point.
  • Coming out of an early back-and-forth battle, the Spartans went on to double-up the Wolves, 18-9, and carried that momentum on to a 25-17 fourth set victory. Taylor once again led all players with six kills in the frame, including four down the stretch which helped put Alvernia away.
  • The fifth set saw seven ties and four lead changes before the Spartans ultimately prevailed, 15-12. York capitalized on their offensive opportunities with 10 kills on 23 total attempts, conversely the Alvernia managed only two kills on a dreadful -.048 hitting percentage. Morgan Nolte came up big for the Spartans with four kills in the final set, including the one to clinch the overall match win.
