How It Happened
  • The Diplomats pulled away down the stretch to claim a 25-17 opening set victory. F&M took control early with a 11-4 advantage, but the Spartans rallied back to cut their deficit to two (14-12) as the errors piled up for the Dips. York fell into trouble with errors of their own which allowed F&M to break away late and claim the win. York hit a collective .000 for the set with six kills and six attack errors, while the Dips swung .257 with 11 kills and just two errors.
  • York and F&M tied the score four times in the second set before the Diplomats rolled to a 25-16 win. The Spartans held the early lead before a 9-0 F&M run gave the Diplomats an 18-11 advantage and put them in the lead the rest of the way. F&M had a strong hitting performance once again with 12 kills to just three errors which resulted in a .265 average for the set.
  • After eight ties and three lead changes, the third set ultimately resulted in a 25-17 win for the Diplomats. Trailing 10-8, F&M erased York's lead for good as the Dips ripped off six unanswered points to take a 14-10 advantage. The Spartans struggled to gain traction down the stretch as they hit just .029 for the set with seven kills, while F&M racked up 13 kills on a match-high .267 hitting percentage.
