YORK, PA – The seventh ranked York College field hockey squad remained perfect at 6-0 as they blanked Dickinson College 3-0 at Kinsley Field on Wednesday evening.
The Spartans got a goal in the first quarter and two more in the third while the Spartan defense handled the rest in York's third shutout of the year.

How It Happened
• The Spartans drew the game's opening corner just 1:07 into the game. The Spartans wouldn't be able to convert and there wasn't much action over the next ten minutes of play. York dominated possession over that ten minutes and that pressure finally paid off with 2:52 left in the opening quarter. York drew the game's second penalty corner and
Brooke Cordisco found
Libby Wild who drove home her fourth goal of the year. It was Wild's third straight goal covering two games and was the Spartans' fourth straight goal off a penalty corner.
• Dickinson bounced back with a pair of shots as one was blocked and one was saved in the final two minutes of the quarter. Both teams finished the first quarter with two shots and two penalty corners.
• York carried the play in the second quarter as they held a 3-0 margin in shots and a 2-0 advantage in penalty corners. The Spartans wouldn't be able to convert those chances as they took the 1-0 lead to the break.
• The Green and White scored the final two goals of the game in a span of 1:38 as the combination of
Katie Martino and
Hannah Huffman struck twice. The first goal of the quarter came as Huffman hit a pass towards the goal from the right wing. Martino finished the chance for her fourth goal of the year. Martino returned the favor shortly there after as she hit a pass from inside the circle that Huffman finished off for the 3-0 Spartan lead. The goal was Huffman's second of the year.
• The Spartans continued to control the play until very late in the game when the Red Devils had a penalty corner and a shot from Maggie Carson that
Belle Fields saved to preserve the Spartan shutout.
• York finished the game with a 13-3 edge in total shots and a 7-2 margin in shots on goal. The Spartans held a 7-3 bulge in penalty corners in the win.
