Spartans Wrap Opening Weekend With Saturday Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Spartans posted a Saturday split with Meredith and Gettysburg to wrap up opening weekend play at the Battlefield Classic.

How It Happened
  • The Spartans rolled to a 3-0 sweep of Meredith (25-19, 25-21, 25-22) to hand the Angels their lone loss of the season.
  • Gianna Krinock paced the offensive effort with 12 kills and Jennifer Taylor chipped in with seven. Abby Diehl led the Green and White in assists (23) and service aces (5) to go along with 22 digs and three blocks. Jasmine Doguin matched Diehl for the team lead with 22 digs and Morgan Nolte led the Spartans with four blocks.

How It Happened
  • The Bullets edged the Spartans 25-23 in each of the first two sets before Gettysburg cruised to a 25-12 win in set three.
  • Gettysburg used late runs in the first two sets to ultimately win the games in a pair of back-and-forth battles. The Bullets rushed out to a 7-0 lead to start the third and later used a six-point run to take a 19-8 advantage which put the set out of reach.
  • Nolte led York with eight kills, while Taylor added seven and Darby Stetter contributed six. Lily Morton led all players with four service aces and Diehl posted a match-leading 19 assists.
