Volleyball Rallies Back to Earn Opening Day Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Spartans opened the season with a 1-1 record in two matches against Washington and Lee and Penn State Mont Alto on Friday night at Gettysburg's Battlefield Classic. York dropped their opening match, 3-0, to the Generals before rebounding with a 3-1 victory over the Lions.

How It Happened
  • W&L out-scored York 8-1 down the stretch of the first set to pull out a 26-24 comeback win. The Generals went on to roll the Spartans, 25-13 and 25-12, in the last two sets to claim the 3-0 win.
  • Gianna Krinock led all players with 10 kills in the match, while Abby Diehl led everyone with her 21 assists and four service aces.

How It Happened
  • The Spartans rallied back from a 25-20 opening set loss and ripped off three-straight set victories to pick up their first win of the season.
  • Krinock fueled the Spartan victory with her 17 kills. Diehl had a fantastic all around performance with 36 assists, 21 digs and four total blocks.
