YORK, PA – The York College men's lacrosse team picked up their seventh straight win as they downed Widener University 22-8 in ther regular season finale on Saturday in York.
The 11
th ranked Spartans exploded for ten first period goals as they cruised to the conference win. Senior
Will Harnick set a new school record for single season goals as he now has 62.
York improves to 12-5 overall and 8-0 in the MAC Commonwealth while Widener falls to 8-8 overall and 5-3 in the league. York has won 17 straight regular season conference games as they are now 21-1 in Commonwealth action since joining the league in 2021.
How It Happened
• The Spartans removed all doubt about the result of the game early as it was the
Will Harnick show in the first quarter. Harnick scored four of the first five goals of the game and tallied six first quarter goals to give York a 10-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.
Ben Mayer added three first quarter goals to aid Harnick's explosion.
Brent Blackmon recorded a pole goal for York's other tally in the quarter.
• The Spartans outscored Widener 3-2 in the second while both teams netted four goals in the third quarter.
• York had a strong fourth quarter as they held a 5-1 margin in goals to provide for the final 22-8 bulge. York had three man-up goals in the fourth quarter as
