How It Happened
The Spartans rolled to an 8-2 lead at the end of one quarter of play as they came out hot with three-straight in the first four minutes. Teresa Matthias was the only repeat goal-scorer in the period with two, while Kiersten Blanchard compiled five first-quarter points with a goal and four assists. York limited Alvernia's chances in the quarter by winning seven of 11 draw controls and out-shot the Golden Wolves, 11-4, in the period.

York continued to stifle Alvernia as the second quarter unfolded to take a 13-2 advantage into the halftime break. The Green and White absolutely dominated the second quarter with a 5-0 advantage in goals, a 10-3 shot margin and kept the ball out of Alvernia's hands with a 4-2 edge in draw controls. Jen Campbell led the Spartans with a pair of goals in the quarter, the first of which forced the game into running clock with 8:06 left in the period. Blanchard notched another goal and another assist in the second to bring her first-half point total to seven.

The Spartans sandwiched a pair of Alvernia goals with two of their own to extend their lead to 15-4 at the end of three quarters of play. Blanchard assisted Logan Ward's tally to open the third-quarter scoring to bring her point total to eight on the day which matched her season-high. York owned a 4-0 edge in draw controls in the quarter, but four turnovers curtailed the scoring pace for the Green and White.

The two teams traded goals in the final three minutes as Alvernia cut the deficit to nine, but the Spartans responded with a Krista Yarusso tally with 1:39 left to earn the 10-goal margin once again in a 17-7 victory. Spartan goalie McKenna Seashole had a busy fourth quarter in her relief appearances as she posted three saves in the period for a total of five in the second half as the Golden Wolves compiled 12 total shots in the second half which more than doubled their total from the first 30 minutes.
