How It Happened
York stormed out to a 9-0 lead through one quarter of play after out-shooting the Golden Wolves 24-1 with 21 shots on goal. The Spartans dominated possession as they won all 10 faceoffs while Alvernia went just 5-for-9 on the clear and turned the ball over eight times. Ben Mayer led the Spartans with three first-quarter goals and Ames Clark also posted three points with a goal and two assists.

The Green and White tacked on seven more unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 16-0 halftime advantage. The Spartans once again held Alvernia to just one shot while York went 8-for-8 in faceoffs. Michael Russo and JD Townsend posted three points each in the quarter with Russo setting up Townsend for back-to-back tallies.

Ben Mayer notched his 27th goal of the season less than four minutes into the third quarter to put York up 17-0. A little over three minutes later, Alvernia got on the board and broke up the York shutout when a Peter Capasso shot deflected off a Spartan defender through traffic and found its way into the net. Will Harnick would respond for York on the ensuing possession for his 44th of the season. The two teams would then go scoreless for 21 consecutive minutes before Burbank set up Townsend for a goal with 24 seconds left to put the finishing touches on the 19-1 win.
