How It Happened – Game One
• The Spartans jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first as
Chris Nesensohn walked, stole second, moved to third on a ground out. He scored on a
Michael Tinneny RBI single up the middle.
• York made it 2-0 in the third asÂ
Robby Elzinga reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on another Tinneny RBI single. The Spartans got a third run in the fourth but it could have been a bigger inning.
Garrett Kile had an RBI fielder's choice but the Spartans left two runners on.
• Lynchburg got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a Holden Fiedler fielder's choice RBI.
• The Spartans held on to the 3-1 lead until the seventh inning when the Hornets got eight runs on just six hits and three big Spartan errors. Just two of the eight runs were earned in the inning as the game slipped away from York.
• Much like Saturday, the Spartans had a chance in the eighth but a double play ended the inning.
Gabe Trevena had a two out double in the ninth but the Hornets would get the next out to end the game.

How It Happened – Game Two
• For the second game in a row, the Spartans jumped out on top, this time in the top of the fourth.
Brendan Martin opened the inning with a double to left.
Chris Betler was then hit by a pitch as York had two on and no outs.
Jacob Deimling continued his torrid weekend with an RBI double to left, scoring Martin and moving Betler to third. After Lynchburg got a strikeout and a ground out, the Hornets intentionally walked
Robby Elzinga to load the bases.
Mike Scappa tabbed
Lucas Prendergast to pinch hit and the freshman drew a walk in his collegiate debut to score the second run of the inning. The Spartans left the bases loaded as the inning could have been much bigger.
• The Hornets answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. They blew the game open in the fifth with four runs on four hits and another Spartan error as the Hornet lead grew to 6-2.
• York got one back in the top of the sixth as Deimling doubled and moved to third on an
Emidio Bucci single to right. After Elzinga walked to load the bases, Predergast singled to center to score Deimling, trimming the Spartan deficit to 6-3 with one out. The Spartans again struggled to get the big hit as they left the bases loaded for the third time in the game.
• The Hornets added to their lead in the seventh with two runs without the benefit of a base hit. York issued a walk, hit a batter, threw a wild pitch and then had Lynchburg score runs on a ground out and a sacrifice fly.
• York got an RBI single from Bucci in the ninth but left two more runners on base at the end of the game. York stranded 15 runners in the game, compared to just five for Lynchburg. York stranded 31 runners in the three-game series.
