How It Happened
York opened the game with a 9-0 run which spanned the first 23 minutes of the game. Zoe Kluegel led the way with three goals during that span with Kiersten Blanchard (2g, 1a) and Logan Ward (1g, 2a) also accounting for three points each on the opening run. The Spartans also dominated the draw, 8-2, during their opening run onslaught with a 20-2 shot advantage, while scoring on each of their first four shots of the second quarter.

The Blazers broke up the shutout by getting on the board with 4:53 left in the second quarter. From there, York ripped off eight more unanswered tallies which stretched from the end of the second quarter to the early minutes of the fourth quarter. Sydney Mentzer led the way with a hat trick on the 8-0 run, including the tally with 3:09 left in the second to give the Spartans a 10-goal advantage. Teresa Matthias also scored multiple goals and dished out an assist during that span. York held the Blazers to just two shots and one draw control in the third quarter while compiling a 4-0 goal advantage.

The Blazers scored their only back-to-back goals of the game in the fourth quarter, and did so on consecutive possessions, but then were held scoreless for the final nine minutes. Freshman Juliana Silvernale tallied her first-career goal with 6:08 left and freshman Krista Yarusso found the back of the net for the second time this season over two minutes later to put the finishing touches on the Spartan victory.

Notes
York improves to 11-0 against Hood all-time … York has held Hood to three goals or less eight times since the series began in 2008 … the Spartans have won 13-straight regular-season conference games and are 16-1 in those games since joining the MAC Commonwealth for the start of the 2021 season.
