GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College softball squad salvaged a split with the Gettysburg College Bullets on a brisk Tuesday afternoon in Gettysburg. The Bullets captured game one 7-2. The Spartans looked like they were going to get swept but scored seven runs in the top of the seventh of game two to seize a 7-2 win.
The Spartans are now 4-4 since their return from their spring trip to Florida. They have split their last two doubleheaders.

How It Happened
• The Bullets fired the opening salvo with single runs in the second and third innings. Michaela Carroll had an RBI double in the second while Julia Smith drew a bases loaded walk in the third to make it 2-0 Bullets.
• While the Spartan offense was getting no-hit by Gettysburg starter Paige Forry, the Bullets added a pair of runs in the fifth as an error and another bases loaded walk pushed the Gettysburg lead to 4-0.
• The Spartans broke up the no-no in the sixth as
Daphney Adams singled to load the bases after an error and a walk.
Amanda Criss then singled to center to score a pair, slicing the Spartan deficit in half.
• The Bullets put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with three more runs thanks to five hits.

How It Happened
• The Bullets jumped on top early as Lauren O'Leary laced a triple to right field to start the bottom of the first. She came around to score on a Michaela Carroll sacrifice fly to left. The Bullets scored a second run on an Olivia Moser RBI double to right.
• The Bullets maintained their two-run lead throughout the next five innings. York did have runners at second and third with one out in the fourth but a line out and ground out ended the Spartans' threat.  The Green and White loaded the bases in the sixth but a line out ended the inning as York had three outs left to play with.
• The Spartans kicked off the seventh inning with a
Taylor Coon single up the middle.
Alyssa Harhigh reached on an error as Coon raced to third. The Spartans pulled off a double steal to score the Spartans' first run of the game. After a strikeout for out number two,
Bri McKeown laced a double to center, tying the game at two. After a
Reagan Wolford single,
Kylee Paules singled to center to score two runs as the Spartans took a 4-2 lead. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for York. Coon then unloaded the bases with a double to left as York extended their lead to 7-2.
