Farrow Earns 100th Win as Spartans Fall at #14 Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Spartan men's wrestling team capped off their dual schedule with a 38-3 loss at No. 14 Stevens on Saturday.

Senior Camden Farrow notched the lone Spartan win of the day with a 6-0 decision against Brendan Newbury at 197 lbs. The victory marked a major milestone for Farrow as he now has 100 for his decorated and accomplished career.

How It Happened
  • The opening bout marked the third meeting of the season for No. 6 Jared Kuhns and No. 8 Luke Hoerle. Hoerle avenged his prior loss to Kuhns in the MAC 125-pound title bout with a 11-6 win in Saturday's dual. Hoerle jumped out to a 6-1 first period lead with a pair of takedowns and a pair of back points and added another takedown with a reversal in the second period. Kuhns managed to get a takedown in the third period to avoid surrendering bonus points. Hoerle now owns a 2-1 edge in the season series as they two will be on a collision course to meet again at NCAA Regionals.
  • The Ducks built up a 16-0 lead through four bouts as their gauntlet of No. 10 Nico Diaz, No. 3 Kyle Slendorn and No. 7 Hunter Gutierrez followed up Horle's victory with three more wins, including two with bonus.
  • Stevens continued to roll and won the next four bouts, including falls by No. 5 Stefan Major and Frank Medina, to take a 35-0 advantage with just two bouts to go.
  • Camden Farrow broke up the shutout with a his history-making 6-0 victory over Brendan Newbury at 197. Farrow owned a 2-0 lead after one and after a scoreless second, escaped from bottom to start the third and added a takedown with the riding time bonus to close out his bout.
  • Stevens closed out the dual with their ninth win of the bout courtesy of a 5-0 win by Max Ruiz who scored all his points in the third period.

The Spartans will send a crew of underclassmen to the Northeast Futures next Sunday at Muhlenberg College which will be the final event before the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by York on Feb. 24-25.

Camden Farrow is now 29-5 on the season and owns a dual record of 11-3 … Farrow is 100-29 for his career, good for a .775 win percentage … he is just the sixth Spartan in Program history and the first since Greg Warner '19 (126) to join York's exclusive 100 Win Club … Farrow is tied with Rich Wileczek '84 for fifth on the program's career wins list and is seven victories behind Mike Spencer '16 for fourth.
