HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – The York College men's golf team earned their second tournament championship of the year as they were first at the two-day Arcadia Fall Invitational at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
The Spartans shot a two day total of 615 to edge Alvernia as the Golden Wolves finished the tournament with a score of 620. Albright (634) was third followed by Penn College (645) and Jefferson (647) to round out the top five of the seven team field.
Sophomore
Jacob Fripp was York's top finisher as he placed fourth overall with a two-day total of 153. He finished six strokes back of individual champion Shawn Williams from Alvernia. Fripp shot a one-over 37 on the front nine and concluded his tournament with a 41on the back nine for his 78 on Tuesday.
Nate Myers and
Matthew Salter tied for fifth as they both carded a two-day total of 154. Myers shot 78 on Tuesday after a 76 on Monday. Myers shot 38 on the front followed by a 40 on the back. Salter shot 42 on the front and then trimmed five shots off that total with a 37 on the back for his 79.
Jason Velez was York's fourth finisher on Tuesday as he finished with a two-day total of 155. Velez was very good on Tuesday with a five-over 77. He fired an even par 36 on the front with a 41 on the back. His 77 was the Spartans' top score on Tuesday.
Freshman
Thomas O'Connell was York's fifth tournament participant as he shot 78 on Tuesday. O'Connell finished tied for 19
th with a two-day total of 162.
The Spartans wrap up their fall campaign on Saturday afternoon as they host the Spartan Fall Invitational at Royal Manchester Golf Club in Manchester, PA. The action is set for a noon start for the one-day tournament.
