YORK, PA – The York College Spartan volleyball squad rolled to a 3-0 MAC Commonwealth win over Hood College on Tuesday night in York. The Spartans won by scores of 25-12, 25-21, and 25-21 as they improve to 7-0 at home.
York is now 11-7 and 2-2 in the MAC Commonwealth while the Blazers fall to 7-13 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
How It Happened
• The Spartans opened the first set by jumping out to a 9-4 lead. The Blazers cut the Spartan lead to 11-9 on a York attack error. York ripped off a 14-3 run to close out the set and earn the early lead. York held the Blazers to a -.103 attack percentage while York hit .208 in the set. York also had five service aces in the opening set.
• In the second set, the Spartans raced out to a 5-0 lead. The Blazers went on a 5-1 run to draw even at six. There would be three more ties in the next 16 points with the last coming at 14-14. That came in the middle of a 10-2 Spartan run that gave them a 20-16 lead. The Blazers tallied four straight points to tie the set at 20. York scored five of the final six points of the set for a 25-21 win.
• Set three was back and forth from the start. Neither team would hold a lead bigger than two points over the opening 20 points of the set. York pushed out to a 12-9 lead only to have the Blazers tie the set at 14. The Spartans scored two straight thanks to a Blazer attack error and a
Lily Morton service ace to take a 16-14 lead. York would not lose the lead as they scored nine of the final 16 points of the set to earn the win. Morton capped the match with service ace as York won 25-21.

Gianna Krinock led the way with 13 kills as she hit .321 in the win while she also had two aces and a pair of block assists.
Jennifer Taylor added nine kills with two block assists as she hit .381 in the win.
Morgan Nolte chipped in with six kills, one solo block and four block assists for York.
Abby Diehl had 32 assists, one kill, four service aces, two block assists and five digs in the victory.

The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host Arcadia and Penn State Schuylkill in a tri-match. York plays Arcadia to open the day at 10:00 am followed by the Knights and Lions squaring off at noon. Schuylkill and York close out the day with a 2:00 pm match at Wolf Gymnasium.
