How It Happened
  • The Spartans capitalized early in the contest with their second corner kick of the game. With a good service in from the corner by Cole Kendra, Dermot Williamson managed to rise up and head the ball into the open net to give the Green and White the lead 17 minutes in. Williamson moves into a three-way tie for the team lead with three goals on the season.
  • The Tartans went on to out-shoot the Spartans 3-0 over the next 18 minutes with a pair of corner kicks, but failed to get anything on target.
  • York rallied back and finished the second half strong with a pair of scoring chances in the final 10 minutes, while keeping Carnegie Mellon quiet.
  • The Spartans made a strong push at a second tally out of the halftime break with three more shots, including one on goal, in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
  • The Tartans gave York a scare in the 67th and 68th minutes with a pair of good opportunities, but neither found their way on target. From there, York put the clamps down on the CMU offensive pressure the rest of the way as they claimed the win.
  • The two teams finished the game with a combined total of nine bookings in the final 18 minutes with two to York and seven to Carnegie Mellon, including three to the Tartan coaching staff.
