FREDERICK, Md. - The York women's basketball picked up their second-straight MAC Commonwealth victory with a 60-52 triumph at Hood on Wednesday night.

York 6-11 (3-5 MACC)
Hood 4-12 (1-7 MACC)

How It Happened
  • Bradi Zumbrum knocked down a pair of free throws with five seconds left in the first quarter to give the Spartans a 16-14 edge at the end of a closely-contested opening period. Zumbrum and Savannah Wilson each posted seven points to lead the Spartan offensive effort in the first. The Spartans had chances a plenty in the first 10 minutes of play with 20 field goal attempts and a 1-for-8 performance from three-point range prevented the Green and White from breaking the game wide open.
  • The Spartans remained cold from beyond the arc in the second quarter with just one made shot on seven more attempts. York's one make came at a crucial time as Alyssa Hocker drained her three-point attempt with four seconds left to tie the game, 31-31, heading into halftime.
  • Both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket throughout the third quarter as neither side shot above 24% from the field which resulted in an 11-7 Hood advantage. The Blazers were kept alive and ultimately edged out a lead at the end of the third courtesy of a 5-for-8 effort at the free throw line.
  • The Spartans came out of the break on fire and out-scored the Blazers 10-2 less than three minutes into the fourth quarter as they went on to rout Hood, 22-10, in the final 10 minutes of play. Taylor Burda knocked down the first of her two fourth-quarter three-pointers during that early run which put the Spartans on top, 46-44, and proved to be the final lead change of the contest.
  • York converted six of eight field goal attempts in the fourth quarter and knocked down a trio of three-pointers, which matched the total from the previous three quarters, to go along with a 7-for-12 performance at the free throw line. The Spartans also put forth a strong defensive performance to close out the game as they limited the Blazers to just four made field goals on 16 total attempts.
