YORK, Pa. - The York women's volleyball team opened conference play with a convincing 3-0 victory over Albright Wednesday night in Wolf Gym to extend their home win streak to 11-straight.

Team Records
Albright 2-2 (0-1)
York 3-1 (1-0 MACC)

How It Happened
  • Claire Shorb led the Spartans with six kills in the first set on just eight total attempts as York hit .448 collectively on their way to a 25-17 opening set win. The Spartans jumped out a 13-6 lead to force an Albright timeout as Briyana Shepard racked up for kills on that run. Out of the break, York went on a 9-4 run to take a commanding 22-10 lead and put the set out of reach for the Lions.
  • With the second set tied, 5-5, Alyssa Mott ripped off 10-consecutive serves with four aces as the Spartans took a 13-6 lead during that span. From there, York went on a four-point run to swell the lead to double-digits and never let their lead dip below six the rest of the way to a 25-15 victory.
  • Abby Diehl paced the Spartans with four kills in the third set on a total of four attempts, while also dishing out 10 assists. Two of Dieh's kills came during a crucial 5-0 run which brought the Spartans back from an early deficit and gave them the lead for good after capping the run with a 10-6 advantage. The Lions would cut the deficit to three (16-13), but York responded with 5-0 run led by a pair of Sydney Wilber kills that sprung the Spartans to the 25-17 win.

Up Next
The Spartans return to the court Saturday in a tri-match at Penn State Harrisburg beginning with a matchup against the host Lions at 11 a.m.
