DeSales 3-2-2

How It Happened
  • The Bulldogs threatened early and their work paid off with a goal in the 14th minute. Katie Padgett drew defenders by dribbling left of the goal and passed into the middle to Allie Trick who punched a shot low left through traffic past a diving Jacqueline Keogh.
  • The Spartans did not take long to respond as Anna Morton found the back of the net in the 20th minute. DeSales keeper Hannah Pacheco stopped an Ashlynn Weger shot on a corner set piece, but punted short of the midfield line where the Spartans gained possession and quickly advanced towards the goal. Erin Snyder corralled the kick from Pacheco and sent a through ball to Morton who broke free from the back line and finished to the left corner from just inside the 18-yard line.
  • DeSales had a prime opportunity to retake the lead in the 21st minute on a Emma Ribeiro penalty kick, but Keogh made a spectacular diving save to her right to preserve the tie.
  • The Spartans would go on to put four more shots on target for a total of seven shots on goal in the first half. Keogh compiled three saves as she faced a total of nine shots in the first 45 minutes of play.
  • York breathed a sigh of relief in the 55th minute after DeSales had a pair of threatened chances. Trick had an opportunity for her second goal of the contest, but her shot found the bottom of the right post instead. The ball rebounded out to the middle to the waiting foot Meghan Foley, but she sent a shot just inches over the crossbar.
  • The Bulldogs kept up the pressure and netted the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute on a Ribeiro shot from approximately 23 yards out. Ribeiro stepped in front of her defender as she received a pass from Foley in the middle and sent a shot towards the goal that bounced just out of the reach of a diving Keogh.
  • With time ticking away, the Spartans mustered up one last opportunity with a corner kick in the 89th minute. Moriah Morton received the entry from the right corner and played it over to Weger who bicycle kicked the ball over her head towards the back post where Snyder rose up to head the ball in the back of the net for the equalizer.
