Mitzelfelt Powers Spartans to 3-0 Win at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Junior midfielder Jack Mitzelfelt scored three times as York men's soccer rolled a 3-0 victory at Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the year.

Team Records
York 3-0-1
Susquehanna 0-2-2

How It Happened
  • Jack Mitzelfelt ignited his big day and broke open the scoreless draw in the 21st minute when he finished a feed from Tyler Howlett. York had been knocking on the door up to that point as they owned a 4-2 edge in shots and a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • After a quiet start to the second half for the Spartans, Mitzelfelt injected some juice back into the game with a tally in the 58th minute. Noah Roche drew the attention of the defense as he carried the ball towards the left corner and passed back to the middle where a waiting Mitzelfel one-timed a shot into the back of the net.
  • Brady Bixler gave York a big lift in the 73rd with a point-blank save on a Susquehanna free kick from just nine yards out.
  • Mitzelfelt capped off his spectacular day with a third tally in the 85th minute of play. Howlett fed a pass from the middle to Mitzelfelt who settled into a soft spot on the left side of the box. The Spartan forward paused for a moment to let his defender slide by and then curled a shot inside the left post.

Up Next
The Spartans open a four-game home stand Wednesday beginning with a non-conference tilt with St. Mary's (Md.) at 7 p.m.

Notes
