BRYN MAWR, PA – The Spartan field hockey squad got back on the winning side of the ledger as York rolled to a 5-0 victory at Bryn Mawr in non-conference action on Saturday. The Spartans earned their third shutout victory of the year as they improved to 3-1 overall. The Owls suffer their first loss of the year as they fall to 3-1. Prior to Saturday's game, Bryn Mawr had surrendered just one goal in their first three games of the season.

How It Happened
• The Spartans jumped on the Owls early as
Katie Martino took a feed from
Brooke Cordisco and scored her second goal of the year just 3:18 into the game. York tacked on a second goal just 1:08 later as
Maycee Collison notched her first goal of the year, an unassisted tally at the 4:26 mark. The Owls responded to the Spartan two-spot with three corners and a pair of shots on goal in the next two minutes but Spartan goalie
Kaitlyn Wallace was up to the task with a pair of saves. Bryn Mawr got two more corners late but weren't able to generate any shots off those corners.
• The Spartan defense stiffened in the second as they did not allow a shot or a corner to the Owls in the quarter. York had four shots with three of those chances came on goal but Bryn Mawr goalie registered three saves in the quarter as York took the 2-0 lead to the half.
• York wasted little time in adding to their lead in the third. Martino recorded her second goal of the game a mere 40 seconds into the second half. The Spartan defense was again stout as they kept the Owls from attempting a shot in the third quarter. York had five shots and one penalty but were only able to get the one goal.
• The Spartans tacked on two more goals in the fourth.
Anna Simoes scored off a
Maggie Spadafora pass with 8:45 left in the game.
Riley Buschert made it 5-0 with an unassisted goal with 3:15 left.
