#13 Spartans Down the Dutchmen to Remain Unbeaten in Commonwealth

YORK, Pa. - No. 13 York women's lacrosse handed Lebanon Valley their first Commonwealth loss of the season and the Dutchmen's season-best three-game win streak with a 19-10 defeat Saturday at Kinsley Field.

The Spartans used a four-goal run to start the second half to open up a comfortable eight-goal advantage before securing the win with a 10-goal lead with 6:08 left to play. Riley Roeder led York with four points on the day with Teresa Matthias pacing the squad with three goals. Jenna Cholowinski led all players with seven draw controls.

How It Happened
The Spartans found themselves in a dogfight early as LVC scored in the opening minute of play. York rallied back with three-straight goals with Gianna Huet netting a goal and dishing out an assist. The two teams traded goals in the last six minutes of the first quarter as York clung to a 4-2 lead.

York put some distance on the Dutchmen with a four-goal run to start the second quarter, including a pair of short-handed goals 16 seconds apart by Chloe MacDonald and Madison Kurland. The Dutchmen did not go into halftime quietly as they out-scored York 3-1 in the final 5:30 to trail by four heading into the break.

The Spartans caused eight of LVC 11 first-half turnovers, led by Logan Ward with two. York also owned a 24-10 shot margin at the end of one half of play.

York went ahead by eight with a four-goal run to start the second half, but the pesky Dutchmen scored a pair 20 seconds apart in the final minute of the third quarter to hang around heading into the fourth.

A three-goal run for the Spartans to open the fourth quarter swelled the lead to nine. York limited the Dutchmen's chances by winning seven of 10 draws in the final quarter, including six of the first seven, to put LVC in an unrecoverable deficit.

The Spartans remain home and will face Hood on Wednesday in a Commonwealth contest scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
