Harnick Hits Century Mark as #6 Spartans Roll Past LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. - No. 6 York men's lacrosse team maintained a steady scoring pace in a 25-4 victory at Lebanon Valley on Saturday to win their eighth-straight overall and get to 4-0 midway through their Commonwealth slate.

Will Harnick became the latest member of York's 100-point club with his game-high four-goal performance on the day. Zach Mentzer matched Harnick for the team lead with four points, which established a new career-high for the midfielder, and dished out a career-best three assists on the day. Hugo Spencer led all players with a 16-for-17 effort at the faceoff dot and picked up a game-high 10 ground balls. Ryan Kennedy led all players with four caused turnovers to go along with six ground balls.

How It Happened
York got on the board in the first minute of play and proceeded to out-score the Dutchmen 5-1 at the end of one quarter of play. Will Harnick led the offense with a pair of tallies in the opening stanza.

The Spartan defense blanked LVC in the second quarter while the offense ripped off seven unanswered goals in the period as York owned a 12-1 edge heading into halftime. Zach Mentzer accounted for a goal and two assists in the frame as Harnick tacked on two more tallies. Defenseman Mason Smith capped off the second-quarter goal parade with his first-career tally as his defensive unit caused five of LVC's eight turnovers, led by Ryan Kennedy with four.

York put seven more goals on the board in the third quarter with the Dutchmen managing to get one back as the Spartans owned a 17-8 shot margin and an 8-1 faceoff advantage in the period. Michael Russo scored a goal and dished out an assist in the frame, while JD Townsend led York with two goals, each in the final minute of the quarter. Jack Keller racked up five saves in the period to lead all Spartan netminders on the day.

Eben Ordakowski led York with a pair of fourth-quarter goals and Rhys McCarver put the Spartans ahead by 20 with 4:29 left as the Spartans finished out the game with a 6-2 scoring spree.

The Spartans remain on the road for another Commonwealth tilt on Wednesday with a trip to Hood.

York is now 2-0 all-time against Lebanon Valley having met for the first time last season … York is now 5-0 away from Kinsley Field this season in road and neutral site games with wins over two ranked teams in those contests … halfway through their conference slate, the Spartans have out-scored opponents 96-18 and own a 4-0 record … Will Harnick now sits at 100 points for his career, becoming the 20th player in program history to reach the century mark, as he has 75 goals and 25 assists … Harnick needed just 34 games to get to 100 points as he is averaging 2.94 points per game.
