READING, PA – The York College baseball squad split their Saturday MAC Commonwealth doubleheader with Alvernia in Reading. York won game one 6-4 but the Golden Wolves earned the split with a 14-2 win in the nightcap.
The game two loss snapped York's win streak at five.

How It Happened
• The Spartans struck early as they plated three runs in the first.
Robby Elzinga opened the game reaching on a hit by pitch. He scored as
Austin Denlinger reached on an error and a second error allowed Elzinga to make it 1-0.
Jack Barry scored Denlinger with an RBI double. Barry came around to score on a
Brendan Martin RBI fielder's choice.
• York tallied three more in the second as
Brian Jakubek walked and Barry then had a two-out infield single.
Joe Capobianco blasted a three-run homer to left center to make it 6-0 Spartans.
• Alvernia got a single run back in the bottom of the second on a Matt Edwards sacrifice fly to center after a Spartan error extended the inning. The Golden Wolves tacked on a single run into the bottom of the fourth on a Mike Ramundo RBI ground out.
• The Golden Wolves cut their deficit in half as Ramundo singled and rode home on a Billy Coleman two-run homer to left in the sixth.
• Alvernia got their first two runners on in the bottom of the ninth but
AJ Vincenzi came in and got the next three Golden Wolve hitters to earn his second save of the year.

How It Happened
• The Golden Wolves kicked off the scoring with a four spot in the bottom of the second. Jason Lind had a two-run double and then Billy Dougar followed with a two-run double of his own for the 4-0 lead.
• York got on the board with an
Austin Denlinger RBI single to score
Davaughn Reid, cutting the Spartan deficit to three. Alvernia got that run right back with a Thomas Faggioni solo homer to left in the bottom of the frame.
• The Spartans made it 5-2 in the sixth as they loaded the bases with no outs but they only got one run on an Alvernia error.
• Alvernia got two runs in the bottom of the seventh and then blew the game open with a seven-run bottom of the eighth to remove all doubt about the outcome of the contest. All seven runs were unearned in the frame.
