YORK, Pa. - No. 12 York women's lacrosse secured the Commonwealth's regular season title and posted their program-record 12-straight conference win with a 16-6 at Stevenson Wednesday night.

After taking a 10-5 halftime lead, the Spartans put the game away with a third-quarter shutout to take a commanding 14-5 lead before the final quarter to play. Kiersten Blanchard led the Spartans with four goals and a game-high seven draw controls, while Madison Kurland paced the team with five points.

Team Records
Stevenson 10-6 (5-2 MACC)
#12 York 12-5 (8-0 MACC)

How It Happened
York fell behind, 2-1, in the first, but nine seconds after the second Stevenson goal, Kiersten Blanchard netted a tying goal as she took it herself after winning the draw. That goal ignited a three-goal run with tallies by Jenna Cholowinski and Madison Kurland as the Spartans went ahead, 4-2, with 5:55 left in the first. After the Spartans failed to cash in on their next possession, the Mustangs pounced on the opportunity and scored twice to tie the game up, 4-4, at the end of one.

The second quarter belonged to York as the Spartans compiled a 6-1 margin on a 14-5 shot advantage. The Spartans won the first four draws of the quarter, led by three from Blanchard, and went on a 4-0 run with tallies by Kurland, Teresa Matthias, Logan Ward and Cholowinski. Stevenson stopped the run with a goal with 6:55 left to cut the deficit to three (8-5), but Blanchard and Ward each scored again before the quarter ended to swell the lead to five at halftime.

The Spartans rolled through the third quarter, out-scoring the Mustangs 4-0 on a 10-4 shot margin and getting three saves by Bella Garabo to silence Stevenson. The Spartans scored twice more in the fourth quarter to cap an eight-goal run that spanned three quarters. Riley Roeder scored the first goal of the fourth quarter to send the game into running clock with 14:04 left.
