YORK, PA – The York College Spartan baseball squad concluded their non-conference schedule with a 26-7 win over Susquehanna University on a Wednesday afternoon that felt more like an early March day with cold temps and high winds.
The Spartans have won two straight and four of their last six.

How It Happened
• After a scoreless first inning, the River Hawks got on the board with a pair of second inning tallies. The Spartans responded with seven runs in the bottom of the inning. The Spartans tied the game on a
Garrett Kile RBI single. The Spartans loaded the bases and senior shortstop
Austin Denlinger unloaded them with a grand slam to left, the Spartans second grand slam in as many days.
Jack Barry added an RBI single as York led 7-2 after two.
• Susquehanna got another two runs in the top of the third but the Spartans answered again, this time with four runs.
Robby Elzinga had a two-run single to right and
Joe Capobianco had an infield RBI single to plate another run. Denlinger eventually scored on a wild pitch for the 11-4 lead.
• For the third straight inning, Susquehanna scored two runs in an inning. Again, the Spartans responded as they plated five more runs as they had six hits in the frame. York got RBIs from
Brian Jakubek, Elzinga, Denlinger, Capobianco and Barry in the inning.
• The Spartans kept rolling with two more runs in the fifth as Jakubek had a second sacrifice fly and Elzinga had another RBI single as the lead grew to 18-6.
• York put up another six runs in the sixth highlighted by a three-run shot from Denlinger as the Spartan lead grew to 24-6.
• The Spartans got their final two runs from
Connor Pickle as he blasted a two-run homer to right center for his first career round tripper. Susquehanna scored the game's final run in the top of the ninth.
