ST. DAVID'S, PA – The York College baseball squad dropped a pair of one-run decisions to Eastern University in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday in St. David's, PA.
The Eagles won game one 5-4 in come-from-behind fashion and then the Eagles hung on for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.

How It Happened
• The Spartans struck early as they plated four runs in the third inning to jump on top of the Eagles. Brendan Martin drew a bases loaded walk to put the Spartans up 1-0. Michael Tinneny plated the second run with an RBI fielder's choice. The third Spartan run came on an Eastern error to make it 3-0. Robby Elzinga drove in the final run with an RBI single to left.
• Eastern got one run back in the bottom of the fourth as Matt McHale launched a lead off homer to left center.
• The Eagles got three more to tie the game in the fifth as a Spartan error allowed the first run to score. McHale then struck again for a two-run homer to left, knotting the game at four.
• Eastern got the game winner in the sixth as Connor Shilling hit the Eagles' third home run of the game, this one a solo shot to left center.
• The Spartans got two runners on in the top of the seventh but couldn't push across the equalizer. They also had a chance in the ninth with two on and one out but Eastern got a pair of fly outs to end the game.

How It Happened
• The Spartans opened the scoring with three runs in the second. Emidio Bucci ripped a two-run single to put York up 2-0. Robby Elzinga then ripped a solo homer to right for the 3-0 York lead.
• Eastern answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to regain control of the game. Griffin Falco had an RBI single to score the first run. A Spartan wild pitch allowed the second run to score while the final two runs in the inning came from an Austin Utterbaugh single to center.
• Eagle shortstop David Hunsberger made it 5-3 with a solo homer to right in the bottom of the third. Eastern tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth as the lead grew to 7-3.
• York got two runs back in the seventh with an Austin Denlinger two-run homer to left center scoring Elizinga to cut the Spartan deficit to 7-5.
• The Spartans got another run in the ninth as Joe Capobianco launched his team-leading 11^th home run to left center with two outs in the ninth. Jack Barry then singled before the Eagles survived the ninth by getting a line out to right to end the game.

York is now 10-4 against Eastern as the sweep snaps York's four-game win streak against the Eagles … York is now 0-5 in one-run games in 2022 after going 6-0 in one run games in the 2021 regular season … the Spartans had three home runs in game two and that's the seventh time this year that York has had multiple home runs in a game … York had a season-high four errors in game two … York has a combined 12 errors in their last five games.
