MacDonald Reaches Century Mark as #13 Spartans Roll Past Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The No. 13 York women's lacrosse team rolled to their second-straight Commonwealth win scoring a season-high 22 goals in a 22-1 victory at Eastern on Saturday.

The Spartans rushed out to a 10-goal advantage (11-1) before the end of the first quarter and went on to shut out the Eagles through the final three quarters. Chloe MacDonald led all players with a career-high tying seven draw controls and compiled five points as she went over 100 points for her career.

How It Happened
The Spartans began the game averaging a goal per minute as they stormed out a 6-0 lead with nine minutes left in the opening quarter. After the Eagles scored with 2:33 left, York tacked on three unanswered goals before the end of the first quarter with Madison Kurland scoring the 11th tally with four seconds left to force the game into a running clock.

The Spartans out-shot Eastern 14-1 in the first quarter with Eastern's lone shot coming on a free-position shot. The Spartans went a perfect 12-for-12 on the draw with Chloe MacDonald leading the way with seven draw controls.

MacDonald led York with a pair of goals in the second quarter as the Spartans took a 16-1 lead into halftime. York held a 22-2 shot advantage at the half and won 16 of a possible 17 draws.

Sarah Christensen cashed in on the woman-up advantage for her first goal of the season to open the third quarter scoring. Natalie Neiman, Christina Vendelis and Madison Hamilton each etched their names on the scoresheet with goals in the third quarter with Vendelis and Hamilton each scoring their first career tallies.

Zoe Kluegel joined the goal party in the fourth quarter and senior defender Rachael Huebler registered her first career goal in the final minute of the game to close out the scoring for the day.
