READING, PA – The York College softball squad picked up a sweep of Albright in two very different games on Saturday in Reading. York needed extra innings in game one with a 12-10 win in nine innings and then completed the sweep with a 15-0 win in the nightcap.
The Spartans have won eight of their last nine and improve to 5-1 on the road in 2022.

How It Happened
• The Lions took the early lead with single runs in the first and the second for the 2-0 lead.
• The score remained 2-0 until the Spartans erupted for eight runs in the top of the fifth. Alyssa Harhigh tied the game with a two-run single with no outs in the inning. Emma Wade drove in Harhigh with a one-out RBI single. The Spartans eventually loaded the bases and Hannah Vogt drew a bases loaded walk to put York up 4-2. The Spartans tacked on four more runs in the inning as they banged out eight hits in the frame.
• The Lions answered with two in the bottom of the fifth and tied the game with a four-spot in the sixth.
• After scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth, the Spartans broke the tie with a Harhigh RBI single. She stole second and scored on a Daphney Adams RBI double. Wade then blasted a two run homer to put York up 12-8. The Lions tallied two in the bottom of the frame but it wasn't enough as the Spartans escaped with the win.

How It Happened
• The Spartans opened the scoring in the top of the third on a Daphney Adams sacrifice fly.
• The Green and White blew the game open with five runs in the fourth. Morgan Sauers kicked off the scoring with an RBI single to make it 2-0. After an error scored another run for York, Alyssa Harhigh scored Emma Keller with a sacrifice fly. Emma Wade then ripped a two run single to right center as York lead 6-0.
• Adams blasted a solo home run in the sixth to make it 7-0 Spartans. The Green and White then poured it on in the seventh with an eight-run inning. The frame was highlighted by a three-run homer from Harhigh and a Kylee Paules two-run single to right center.
• That offense would be more than enough for starter Taylor Lindsay as she twirled a complete game shutout as she scattered five hits and struck out seven as she improves to 8-1.
