WASHINGTON, D.C. – The York College softball team stayed hot with a double header sweep of Catholic University on a very chilly Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The Spartans won game one in five innings, 10-1, and completed the sweep with a 5-2 come-from-behind win in the nightcap. York has now won five straight overall.

How It Happened
• York got on the board in the top of the first as
Emma Wade registered an RBI ground out to put the Spartans up early. Wade made it 2-0 in the top of the third with an RBI single to right center, scoring
Alyssa Harhigh. Harhigh singled to short and and stole second before coming home on Wade's single.
• The Spartans blew the game open in the top of the fourth.
Elle Meyer opened the scoring in the inning with a two-run triple to left center to make it 4-0 York. She scored on a
Natalie Decena triple to right center. Decena scored on a Harhigh sacrifice fly for the 6-0 lead. The Spartans loaded the bases and
Hannah Vogt drew a walk to plate the fifth run of the inning for York.
• The Cardinals broke up Vogt's shutout with an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth but the Spartans closed out the win with three runs in the top of the fifth. Catcher
Daphney Adams hammered a three run homer down the left field line to give York their final margin of victory.

How It Happened
• York took the lead in the first as
Elle Meyer singled, moved to third on an
Alyssa Harhigh single up the middle and scored on a
Daphney Adams fielder's choice. The Cardinals responded with two in the bottom of the first as Sammy Phillips had an RBI single to left center. She came around to score on a Allie Lajeunesse single to right for the 2-1 Catholic lead.
• York tied the game in the top of the third as
Taylor Lindsay helped her own cause with an RBI single to right enter.
• The game was tied until the sixth when the Spartan offense struck for a trio of runs.
Lindsey Smith opened the inning with a double to left enter. She moved to third on a
Natalie Decena ground out to second. Smith broke the tie as Harhigh laced a double down the left field line to give York a 3-2 lead. Adams put runners at first and second with a walk setting the stage for
Emma Wade to add to the Spartan lead. The freshman ripped a double to left center, scoring Harhigh and Adams to put the Spartans up 5-2.
• That would be more than enough for Lindsay as the Spartans' senior ace got the final six outs to secure the win.
