How It Happened
• Noah Campanelli opened the game with a double and came around to score on back-to-back ground outs to give St. John Fisher the 1-0 lead. York answered as
Austin Denlinger singled and scored on a
Jack Barry double to right center to tie the game at one. Barry came around to score on a
Joe Capobianco RBI single to right center.
• The Cardinals tied the game in the fourth on a Michael Beimel solo home run to center.
• St. John Fisher blew the game open in the fifth with an eight run inning. The inning got out of hand with Cardinals at first and second. Patrick Kravitz laid down a bunt that was hard. The Spartans had a chance to get the lead runner at third but the throw was up the line and flew down the left field line. That allowed both base runners to score and Kravitz to move to third. He scored one pitch later on a wild pitch. Campanelli homered during the next at-bat as the lead grew to 7-2. The Cardinals would go on to score three more in the inning to take a 10-2 lead.
• Beimel ripped a two-out, two run double to right center in the sixth to make it 12-2 St. John Fisher.
Garrett Kile got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single for the Spartans.
• The Cardinals removed all doubt with four runs in the top of the seventh. They got four runs on just one hit with one error, two walks and two hit batters.
•
Chris Betler had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth and St. John Fisher got one more in the top of the ninth to provide for the final 17-4 score.
