OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The No. 5 York men's lacrosse team capped off their trip to the Mustang Classic with a 2-0 record following a convincing 18-9 win over Bates on Saturday.

Dylan Wolf stood out from an individual perspective with a career-high tying five goals, but the Spartans collectively put together some staggering numbers which ultimately fueled the victory. York owned a 52-18 advantage in ground balls, a 25-5 face-off advantage and went 6-for-7 on the man-advantage, all season-highs for the Spartans.

How It Happened
The Spartans busted out of the gates, racking up a 5-0 advantage through the first 15 minutes of play, while going 3-for-3 on extra-man opportunities during that span. Dylan Wolf had a pair of goals on the extra-man unit, while Will Harnick racked up three points in the quarter with a goal and two assists.

Despite Vinny Facciponti going 5-for-5 at the face-off X in the second quarter, Bates still managed to gain some ground as the Bobcats scored three times and cut the deficit to three (7-3) heading into halftime. York connected on two of their 12 total shots in the period with Wolf and Harnick finding the back of the net again.

York swelled the lead to six as Jack Grayson and Ames Clark found the back of the net in the first 3:12 of the third quarter. Then the two teams went back-and-forth twice until Bates ended the quarter with back-to-back tallies, once again cutting the deficit to four, 11-7, heading into the fourth.

York quickly extended their lead and out the game out of reach with five-straight goals in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter to take a commanding 16-7 lead. The Spartans left no doubt in the fourth quarter, out-scoring the Bobcats, 8-1, and dominating the ground ball battle, 17-4, while Facciponti and Hugo Spencer combined to go 10-for-10 at the face-off dot.
