How It Happened
The Spartans had the upper hand early with a 2-0 lead out of the gates. Zach Mentzer connected with Ethan Greene in transition for the game's first tally. Ames Clark scored the second 27 seconds later on the ensuing Spartan possession.

The Sea Gulls went on to win three of the next four face-offs and ended the first quarter ona 3-0 run to take a 3-2 edge into the second.

Salisbury extended their run into the second quarter, scoring five more unanswered tallies to take a 8-2 lead with 2:32 left in the first half. Despite losing the second quarter face-off battle, 5-3, the Sea Gulls made the most of their opportunities as they put nine of their 13 shots on target in the quarter.

After scoring two goals late in the second quarter, the Spartans also scored the first goal of the second half as Ben Mayer found the back of the net on the first possession to cut the deficit to three, 8-5. The Sea Gulls responded in a big way as they won the next face-off and went on a three-goal run of their own to swell their lead back to six, 11-5, with 9:10 left in the third.

The two teams traded goals to end the third, with Vinny Facciponti giving York the last tally as he took it in himself following the draw with 3:25 remaining in the third quarter.

Facciponti gave York four-straight face-off wins to start the fourth quarter as Gunnar Reynolds, Will Harnick and Ames Clark cashed in for the Spartans to cut the Salisbury lead to two with 3:20 remaining. York went on the man-advantage following the Clark goal, but Z.J. Shahin came up with a huge save on a J.D. Townsend shot from close range, which ended up being the last time the York offense touched the ball the rest of the way.
