All-Americans Rohrbaugh, Farrow Finish Out Stellar Postseason Campaigns

Dalton Rohrbaugh claimed third at 133 lbs., while Camden Farrow took home fourth at 197 lbs.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. - All-Americans Dalton Rohrbaugh and Camden Farrow closed out their stellar postseason performances Saturday on the final day of the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Both wrestlers battled their way to the third-place bouts with Dalton Rohrbaugh taking third at 133 lbs. and Camden Farrow placing fourth at 197 lbs.

York finished tied for 12th with Mount Union in the team standings with 28.5 points. Wartburg (79.0) led the way, followed by Wabash (78.0), Augsburg (62.5), North Central (54.5), Stevens (42.5), Coe (40.5), RIT (37.0), Baldwin Wallace (32.0), Millikin (29.5), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (29.5), Loras (29.0)

Dalton Rohrbaugh (26-1)
Second-seed Dalton Rohrbaugh saw his 24-match win streak snapped and his unblemished season record soiled with a 17-11 loss to sixth-seed Andrew Perelka (John Carroll) in a wild back-and-forth battle in the semifinal round. Perelka owned an 8-2 lead after the first period, but action heated early in the second once Rohrbaugh got hit with his second stall call. The Spartan senior proceeded to rip off three-straight takedowns using a catch-and-release tactic to end the second as he cut the deficit to 11-9. Rohrbaugh surrendered an escape point to Perelka to start the third in a neutral position and then used a low single to score a takedown eight seconds into the period. Rohrbaugh had to cut Perelka loose again, but unfortunately Perelka would score the next takedown with just under a minute left and turned it into a tilt for two as he rode out Rohrbaugh the rest of the way.

Rohrbaugh rolled to a 10-2 major decision over fourth-seed David Massey (Mt. Union) in the consolation semifinals. The Spartan imposed his will in the first with two takedowns as he led 4-1 after the first three minutes. Rohrbaugh added a third takedown in the final minute of the second as he extended his lead to 6-2. Rohrbaugh finished the bout strong, adding another takedown with 21 seconds left and secured the bonus points on riding time.

The Spartan closed out his season with a win as he defeated fifth-seed Matt Berlin (UW-Stevens Point), 7-2, to claim the third-place title. After getting hit with a stall call 15 seconds into the bout, Rohrbaugh went to work and scored a takedown a minute later to take a 2-1 lead at the end of one period. Berlin escaped from bottom early in the second to tie the score, 2-2, but Rohrbaugh finished off a good scramble with another takedown to take a 4-2 advantage into the third. Berlin had a tough ride going to start the third, but Rohrbaugh got out from bottom with less than a minute to go and put the finishing touches on the match with a takedown with 22 seconds remaining.

Camden Farrow (35-7)
Farrow opened the day with a 3-1 win over Gable Crebs (Lycoming) in the consolation quarterfinals. After a scoreless first period, Farrow broke the scoreless tie with an escape to start the second and maintained that one-point lead at the end of two. After a strong ride by Farrow to start the third, Crebs eventually got out from bottom with 57 seconds left to tie the bout, 1-1. With short time left in the third, Farrow came up with a takedown to clinch the win in regulation. Farrow and Crebs met four times this season with Farrow owning a 3-1 record in those meetings.

Farrow had another rematch in his consolation semifinal bout, this time in another meeting with third-seed Coy Spooner (Coast Guard) who defeated Farrow in the first round on Friday. This time around there was a different outcome as Farrow ground out a 4-1 win.

Farrow got the scoring started as he used a low single-leg for a takedown with 1:09 left in the first and then rode out Spooner the rest of the first. Spooner started the second period on top and nearly tilted Farrow, but the Spartan rolled through for an escape and took a 3-0 edge into the third. Farrow had a tough ride going in the third and held Spooner down until 37 seconds left. Farrow fought off a few shots by Spooner down the stretch before he was able to get in deep on a single leg to burn out the clock and clinch the win.

Farrow closed out the day with a 10-4 loss to fourth-seed Beau Yineman (UW-Oshkosh) in the third-place match. Yineman came out strong with two takedowns in the first period, but did not score in the second and carried a 4-2 lead into the third. Yineman was too much for Farrow in the third as he scored two more takedowns to clinch the win.

Notes
Dalton Rohrbaugh and Camden Farrow became the third and fourth different All-Americans under head coach Duane Bastress … York now has 24 different wrestlers accounting 31 total NCAA All-American honors … York's 12th-place finish as a team matches their best performance since finishing 12th in 2012 ... the Spartans finished second behind Stevens among Middle Atlantic Conference and Southeast Region teams … Rohrbaugh's 24-match win streak heading into the semifinals matches the longest such streak by a Spartan wrestler since Greg Warner won 24-straight in 2018 before falling in the national finals.
