FREDERICK, MD – The York College men's basketball team traveled to first-place Hood College and the Blazers ran past the Spartans 93-63 in MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday in Frederick, MD. The Blazers have now won eight straight while the Spartans have lost nine in a row. The Blazer win streak is their longest since starting 8-0 in the 2019-20 season.
Hood drilled a season-high 21 three-point field goals as they made 10 triples in the first half and 11 more in the second. Â

How It Happened
• The Blazers opened the game with a 12-4 run as Hood knocked down four three-pointers in the opening four minutes of the game. The Spartans cut the Hood lead to six but the Blazers answered with a 15-6 run to take a 27-12 lead with 9:26 left in the half. York went on a quick 7-0 spurt, trimming their deficit to 27-19. Unfortunately for York, the Blazers responded with a 10-0 run as they opened a 37-19 lead.
• After a pair of
Chris Miers free throws, the Blazers closed out the half with a 5-1 run to finish out the half as Hood took a comfortable 46-24 lead to the break.
• The Blazers took 15 more first half shots than the Spartans as York committed 13 turnovers which led to nine points. The Spartans shot just 29.6% in the first half while Hood went 10-for-25 from three for the opening half.
• The second half wasn't much better for the Spartans as the Blazer onslaught continued. The Spartans got a Miers three pointer to open the half, cutting their deficit to 18. However, the Blazers answered with eight straight, driving the lead to 26. York would not get any closer than 21 points the rest of the way.
• Hood went 11-for-24 (45.8%) from three in the second half as they finished with a season-high 21 three-pointers in the win. Hood has made 130-of-304 three pointers (42.7%) during their eight-game win streak including going 37-of-91 (40.6%) in two games against the Spartans.
