YORK, PA – The York College women's basketball team ran into a buzzsaw on Saturday as Widener roared past the Spartans 76-54 in MAC Commonwealth play at Wolf Gymnasium. The Spartans now fall into a second-place tie with the Pride as both teams are 10-3 in the Commonwealth, two games back of Messiah in the league standings. The win is Widener's sixth straight as the Pride is the second hottest team in the league behind Messiah's 12 game win streak.

How It Happened
• The game was back and forth early as there were three ties and eight lead changes. The final lead change came on a Mikayla Nicolini jumper that put the Pride up 14-13 with 2:58 left in the first quarter. That kick started an 11-0 run that gave the Pride a 23-13 lead at the end of one.
• Widner kept rolling in the second quarter as they quickly pushed the lead to 13. York trimmed the lead to eight on a
Kayla Ferris lay up with 5:45 left in the quarter. However, the Pride responded with a 13-2 run over the final five minutes of the half to take a 41-22 lead to the half.
• The Spartans had their best quarter in the third as they tallied 19 points. Unfortunately for York, Widener tallied 20 as they grew their lead to 20 at 61-41.
• The fourth quarter was much of the same as the Pride outscored York 15-13 as York was unable to mount any challenge to the big Widener lead. Â
