Second Half Run Lifts LVC to MAC Commonwealth Win

The Spartans get outscored 29-8 during big Dutchmen run

YORK, PA – The Lebanon Valley men's basketball team used a 21-3 late second half run to snap a five-game losing streak and down the York College Spartans 74-67 in MAC Commonwealth play on Tuesday in York.
The Spartans took a 61-52 lead with 7:17 left in the game. The Dutchmen outscored York 22-6 the remainder of the game to steal a victory in York.
The Spartans are now 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the league while the Dutchmen are now 3-5 and 1-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.

How It Happened
• The Dutchmen jumped out to a quick 5-0 only to have York take a 7-5 lead less than three minutes into the game. The game would be tied at seven and nine before the Dutchmen went on a 10-2 run to take a 19-11 lead with 12:16 left in the game. The Spartans responded with a 12-0 run of their own to take a 23-19 lead on a Nick Schroeder lay-up with 8:59 left in the half.
• York went on a final 12-5 first half run covering the final 3:02 of the half as York took a 42-31 lead to the locker room. The 42 points were the most the Spartans had scored in a first half this year.
• The Spartans had a good start to the second half as their lead vacillated between five and 13 points for the first eight minutes of the half. The York lead grew to a game-high 14 (59-45) on a Schroeder triple with 10:26 left in the game. The Dutchmen began the climb back as Luis Garcia drilled a three pointer at the 9:13 mark. That three was the beginning of a significant run for LVC. The Dutchmen outscored the Spartans 29-8 over the final 9:13 of the game. The Dutchman went 8-for-15 from the floor, 3-for-5 from three and 10-for-11 from the line over that game clinching stretch. Conversely, the Spartans went 3-for-15 from the floor, 1-for-8 from three and 1-for-2 from the free throw line.

By the Numbers
The Spartans were outscored 43-25 in the second half after heading to the half up 42-31 … York shot 51.6% in the first half but struggled in the second half as they shot 33.3% … The Dutchmen shot the ball well all night as they converted 53.9% of their shots for the game, the highest shooting percentage an opponent has had against the Spartans all year … York has now had three games where an opponent shoots more than 50% from the field in a game and they are 0-3 in those contests … York tied their season high with 10 three pointers while the 33 attempts is tied for second this season … York was again beaten at the free throw line as LVC went 15-for-21 while York was a paltry 5-for-7 from the stripe … York was whistled for 21 fouls in the game while LVC had 13 … both teams had 33 rebounds and that snaps a four game streak of being out-rebounded in a game … Collin Jones led the Dutchmen with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists while Payton Lewis added 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
