Snyder's Goal Lifts the Spartans to a 1-0 Road Win

Senior strikes in the second half to give York their first Commonwealth win

READING, PA – The York College women's soccer team battled the Albright College Lions and the elements on Tuesday night in a MAC Commonwealth contest in Reading. The Spartans got a second half goal to slip past the Lions 1-0 for their first league win of the year.
York improves to 6-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the league while the Lions fall to 1-8-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

How It Happened
• The Spartans controlled the game for the majority of the first half as they out shot the Lions 8-2 in the opening half including 2-1 in shots on goal. The Spartans also had three corners but weren't able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of the game.
• York wasted little time in breaking the scoreless deadlock after the break. Sophomore Alyssa Russell gained possession at midfield sent a pass forward to Ashlynn Weger along the right sideline. Weger struck a great pass into the box where Erin Snyder finished off the chance for her third goal of the year.
• The Spartans had a few other chances to tack onto the lead but they had to settle for the one goal conference victory. York ended the game holding a 15-3 margin in shots, a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-3 edge in corners. Goalie Jacqueline Keogh had two saves in recording her fifth shutout of the year.

Spartan Notes
The Spartans even the all-time series with the Lions 1-1 after Albright earned a 2-0 win in York last year … the one goal result was York's sixth one goal decision of the year and the Spartans are now 4-2 in one-goal games … York had more corners than their opponent in their sixth straight game and their eighth game overall … the 15-3 edge in total shots is York's second biggest shots margin of the year, just behind the 22-6 bulge against Elizabethtown on September 17 … senior goalie Jacqueline Keogh registered her fifth shutout for the year as she picked up her sixth win of the campaign … Keogh now owns a 0.91 goals against average and a .821 save percentage … senior Erin Snyder took over the team lead in points as she now has nine points on three goals and three assists … Ashlynn Weger handed out her team-leading fourth assist of the year.
