YORK, Pa. - The York women's soccer team closed out an unbeaten conference regular season with a 1-0 win over Lebanon Valley on Saturday night at home.

Makayla Harper netted the lone goal with an Ashley Hudak assist in the 73rd minute. The Spartans clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championship as they finished the regular season 6-0-2 in conference play.

Team Records
Lebanon Valley 6-6-4 (5-2-1 MACC)
York 11-3-4 (6-0-2 MACC)

How It Happened
  • Both keepers, Jocelyn Umana and Jacqueline Keogh, were tested by quality shots in the first four minutes and both came up with excellent saves as the two sides settled in.
  • The Spartan back line excelled at funneling the Dutchmen pressure out wide and prevented quality looks on goal throughout the first half as LVC was held to just two shots on goal with three total shots.
  • Five different Spartans put shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, including Ashlynn Weger who also buzzed a well-struck ball from the right wing just inches over the crossbar in the 14th minute.
  • The Dutchmen held the Spartans shotless through the first 26 minutes of the second half, but that changed in the 73rd minute when Makayla Harper put York's first shot of the half in the back of the net. Ashley Hudak started the play as she booted the ball upfield from beyond the midfield line. The pass allowed Harper to run underneath as she gained possession deep inside the box and finished her shot high left past an out-stretched Umana.
  • Following the goal, the Spartans went on to hold the Dutchmen shotless the rest of the way as they limited LVC to just two opportunities in the second half.

Up Next
The Spartans and Dutchmen will square off again Wednesday night at Graham Field in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
