YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer team earned their way into the 2022 MAC Commonwealth tournament via their 1-0 win over Lebanon Valley on Saturday in York. The Spartans scored early and then rode out the remainder of the game for the win.
The Spartans end the regular season with a record of 9-5-3 overall and 4-3-1. The Dutchmen see their season comes to a close with a mark of 7-9-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the league.
How It Happened
• The Spartans got on the board just under ten minutes into the game. Spartan goalie
Brady Bixler had goal kick that he blasted down the field. After a few bounces off the turf,
Jack Mitzelfelt collected the ball and took a touch across the top of the box to
Tyler Howlett. Howlett captured the pass and hit a blistering one-timer for his third goal of the season.
• York had a bunch of good first half chance but LVC goalie Dalton Fitterling did a good job of keeping the Dutchmen deficit at one as he had six first half saves. The Spartans out shot their guests 12-3 in the first half but the score remained 1-0.
• The second half was very much a back and forth half. Both teams had six shots but York but three on target while Bixler wasn't forced to make a second half save.
