Spartans Secure Postseason Berth at Eastern

A trio of Spartans score in 3-0 win over the Eagles

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Three different Spartans scored as York women's soccer rolled to a 3-0 conference win at Eastern on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, York clinched a berth in the MAC Commonwealth postseason with 14 points.

How It Happened
  • The Spartans limited the Eagles to just one total shot in the first half and no corner kicks as York opened up a 1-0 advantage on the scoreboard. Erin Snyder assisted Anna Morton in the 24th minute for the game's first tally as Morton punched in her third of the year.
  • York scored twice eight minutes apart early in the second half to break open a 3-0 advantage.
  • Makayla Harper found Ashlynn Weger in the 52nd minute as Weger hammered home her shot for her third tally of the season and gave York a two-goal lead.
  • Alyssa Russell took it herself in the 60th minute to register her third goal of the year and put the Spartans ahead, 3-0.
  • York poured on the offense in the second half as they out-shot the Eagles, 19-4, with 10 of those shots making their way on target.

The Spartans close out the regular season with two conference home games next week beginning with a Wednesday night matchup with Hood.

York improves to 9-3-0 all-time against Eastern with the Spartans winning the last two meetings … Jacqueline Keogh became just the second different goalkeeper in program history to record at least eight shutout performances in a single season.
