How It Happened
  • The Spartans suffered a heartbreaker of a first set as they lost, 26-24, with Elizabethtown scoring six unanswered points to erase a 24-20 deficit to end the set. The Spartans out-hit the Blue Jays .225 to .133 in the opening frame as Megan Rizzi led all players with five kills.
  • York once again held a sizable advantage when they reached set point in set number two and succeeded in holding off another late Blue Jay rally to earn a 25-21 victory. Rizzi once again led all players with five kills, while also posting a set-high eight digs. Abby Diehl dished out an astonishing 16 assists, her highest single-set total of the night.
  • The third set went back-and-forth eight ties and five lead changes before Elizabethtown broke away down the stretch to a 25-20 win. Tied 16-16, the Blue Jays went on to out-score the Spartans, 9-4, the rest of the way as five York errors led to points for Etown.
  • The fourth set had a staggering number of 12 ties and six lead changes before the Blue Jays prevailed, 25-19. An Alyssa Mott service ace made the score 18-17 in favor of Elizabethtown, but the Blue Jays went on to claim seven of the next nine points to end the match. Rizzi and Morgan Nolte led all players with four kills each in the final set.
