Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to McDaniel

YORK, Pa. - The York women's soccer team suffered its second one-goal loss of the season on Wednesday in a 1-0 result against McDaniel at Graham Field.

Team Records
McDaniel 3-0-0
York 1-2-0

How It Happened
  • McDaniel brought the offensive pressure right from the start which led to a corner in the 6'. Maddie Schwartz managed to head the ball towards the goal off the feed from Allison Storm, but Cat McCarty was in position to make the save.
  • McCarty came up clutch once again for the Spartans in the early moments as she made a save in the 11' on a McDaniel free kick opportunity from 19 yards out.
  • The Spartans started to gain some traction offensively in the 21' and managed to record their first shot of the game, but a pair of offside calls in the span of two minutes stalled York's opportunities.
  • McCarty had the play of the half for either side when she snuffed out another quality McDaniel opportunity in the 32'. The Spartan keeper laid out to her left to make a diving save on a sharp Hannah Schepers shot from just eight yards out.
  • The Green Terror had a flurry of opportunities in the 54' and 55', but York stood tall. McCarty contested a shot from Schepers that ended up hitting the crossbar and then made a save on the second-chance opportunity from Sara McDonald.
  • McDaniel kept applying the pressure and eventually broke through in the 56'. Schepers settled a pass from Storm into the middle, turned and fired a shot high past the out-stretched hands of McCarty to give the Green Terror the 1-0 lead.
  • York had a quality opportunity in the 73' off a corner kick. Sabrina McGuigan's entry pass sailed long, but Anna Morton was there on the backside to put a good touch on the ball that went just wide of the net.

Up Next
The Spartans will travel to Marymount (Va.) on Saturday for a non-conference tilt starting at 4 p.m.
