Spartans Blitz Marymount in 6-0 Road Win

York's Six Goals is Most Since 2012

ARLINGTON, Va. - The York women's soccer team used a second-half onslaught to cap off a 6-0 road victory over Marymount on Saturday afternoon.

Team Records
York 2-2-0
Marymount 1-3-0

How It Happened
  • York had been knocking on the door throughout the first half before finally kicking it in in the 45th minute of play when Makayla Harper found the back of the net for her second tally of the season. The Spartans owned a 12-3 shot advantage at the end of one half of play, with six of those shots landing on target.
  • The Spartans wasted little time extending the lead as Elizabeth Gleeson finished on a second-chance effort following a corner in the 49th minute and received an assist from Brooke Flugman on the play.
  • With a comfortable two-goal lead, the Spartans remained on the hunt and poured on four more goals in the final 20 minutes of play. York owned a 7-1 shot advantage during that run.
  • Jenna Cholowinksi put the icing on the cake as she tallied three points in the final three minutes. Cholowinski connected with Ashley Hudak for a tally in the 87th minute and later scored a goal of her own in the final minute for her first tally of the season.

Up Next
The Spartans remain on the road as they travel to Gettysburg on Wednesday for the second leg of their four-game road trip. Kick off from Clark Field is set for 7 p.m.

Notes
The Spartans improve to 25-2 all-time against the Saints and improve their win streak to 17-straight against Marymount, which is York's longest active win streak against an opponent … the Spartans scored the most goals in a game and compiled their largest margin of victory since a 10-0 victory over Maritime (N.Y.) in 2012 … Cat McCarty recorded a pair of saves as she has played a role in two shutouts this season and now has five for her career.
